Previously (1992-):
I've been a drummer since 6th grade, age 11. Started with a practice pad. Then got a snare drum. I played in middle school concert band. Don got me my first kit in 7th grade. My parents somehow tolerated it. 8-12th grades I did marching band (cymbals, bass drum, snare, quads) and concert band. 12th grade I did jazz band, chorus band, and the musical. I got a lot of church drumming experience. I definitely don't know how they tolerated it. I played in bands with friends. As an adult I played for Dance Alloy and Attack Theatre classes. I taught lessons for other organizations and at my studio. 1992...
I used to be in a band: Like Summer. That's all I could find on the internet. We had some other EPs, played some shows, tried to do the thing. 2002-2005
I used to be in a band: Good Night, States. We were trying to do the thing, you know? Make records, play shows, tour in the ubiquitous white 15-passenger Ford Econoline van where you could see the road through the floor and find a mechanic that would "fix to pass" inspection. Our alternator fell off on the highway somewhere in Central Pennsylvania and I'd bet it's still out there. 2005-2013
I was the touring drummer for Brooke Annibale. As a solo artist, she plays hundreds of shows. A handful of times a year she'd have a full band for things like album releases or summer festivals. 2011-2022
Being the drummer means you have a lot of gear. So you try to get others to bring their gear to you so you don't have to schlep yours around. :) And sometimes you're in a band who has a studio and gear is always around. Adam reminded me of my quote: "Why didn't I take up the piccolo?". In high school I learned a few chords on his mahogany Martin. In Like Summer, I got my first acoustic. Steve says he gave it to me, and I say I bought it from him. Over the years I got into electric guitar, effects pedals, bass, keys, synths, modular synths/eurorack, drum machines, songwriting, recording, mics, engineering, and producing. Pretty sure 100% of those inroads are because of Steve. I have a full studio that's always ready to make music with literally the flip of one switch.
